Two killed in separate accidents involving BMTC buses

Two people were killed in fatal accidents involving BMTC buses in VIjaya Nagar and Madiwala police station limits on Thursday.

According to the police, in one case, Sushelamma, 69, was alighting from a BMTC bus at Govindaraja Nagar stop when the bus moved. She lost control and came under the wheels and was crushed to death.

The Vijaya Nagar police have registered a case of death against the driver and seized the bus. The driver told the police that he failed to notice Shushelamma getting down.

In another incident, a 65-year-old vegetable vendor was killed after a speeding BMTC bus allegedly ran over him on Madiwala market road on Thursday. The deceased Venkataramanappa, a resident of Roopena Agrahara, was crossing the road.

The bus, coming from Krupanidhi junction, rammed a goods vehicle before knocking down the pedestrian. The police have arrested the driver who reportedly told the police that there he could not apply break due to technical snag, which resulted in the accident.
