Two men were murdered in separate incidents at Marina Beach and Ennore on Thursday night.
According to police sources, a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver, Anthony from Kilpauk, was hacked to death at Marina in theî ˆlate hours of Thursday.
Based on a tip, police personnel went to the spot around 1.30 a.m., and found the man with severe injuries near the Loop Road.î ˆ
Succumbed to injuries
He was taken to Government Royapettah Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation revealed that Anthony was murdered after being suspected of having a relationship with a married woman from Pattinampakkam.
The police said the woman’s sons, who had earlier assaulted him, are suspected of being behind the murder.
A special team has been formed to trace five suspects, according to police sources.î ˆ
In Ennore, a 31-year-old man Sarath of Indira Nagar was assaulted with stones by a group of men near Ayyappan Temple in Ramamurthy Nagar on Wednesday night.
He was taken to Government Stanley Hospital, where he died on Thursday night.
Four youth held
The police arrested four youth — Johnson, 18, Sanjay, 18, Logeshwaran, 21, and Pradeep Kumar, 20 — who allegedly attacked him following a quarrel linked to a recent dispute involving Sarath’s brother, according to police sources. Further investigation is under way.
