Police on Monday arrested two more people in connection with the ₹7.11 crore cash van robbery, taking the total number of arrests in the case to eight.
The accused have been identified as Dinesh and Jinesh. They were allegedly part of the conspiracy to rob a CMS Info Systems cash van near Jayanagar last week.
The CMS Info Systems is the company responsible for transporting cash through these vans.
According to the police, Dinesh was arrested in Bengaluru, while Jinesh was apprehended in Chennai, both on Sunday. So far, authorities have recovered ₹6.55 crore of the stolen amount.
“Around ₹56 lakh is yet to be recovered,” said Lokesh B. Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South division).
Earlier, on Saturday, City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced the arrest of six suspects.
Among those arrested were former employees of CMS Info Systems and Annappa Naik, a police constable attached to the Govindapura Police Station, who is currently under suspension pending inquiry.
Probe revealed that the accused had spent around ₹1 lakh from the loot, primarily on logistics and the purchase of a mobile phone worth ₹40,000.
