Two pedestrians, who were injured after being hit by a speeding car in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area, died at a hospital on Thursday, the police said.

The incident took place near Zakhira roundabout at around 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday. When officers reached the spot, they found the vehicle abandoned at the site, while the injured had already been taken to the hospital.

The victims were identified as Munni Raj, 48, a resident of Nehru Nagar, Anand Parbat, and Surajpal, 74, from Chara Mandi, Zakhira. They were admitted to a nearby hospital and later referred to a higher centre. Their families shifted them to RML Hospital for further treatment.

They died during treatment on Thursday. Post-mortem examinations are under way, and further investigation is in progress, an official said.

An FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (endangering life of others) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) was registered based on the initial report, and police teams have been formed to trace the absconding driver.
