The offices of the Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) and the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) received bomb threats e-mails from an unknown sender on Saturday, which were later declared as a hoax, said the police.

The police received the information around 1.30 p.m., following an e-mail to the IWPC threatening that explosives were placed on its premises at 5, Windsor Place, Ashoka Road.

Another message issued a similar threat to the DUJ office at F-29, Shankar Market in the Connaught Place area.

Multiple police teams, accompanied by the bomb disposal unit, dog squads, and fire tenders, rushed to the locations and conducted extensive checks. The areas were cordoned off and access was restricted as security agencies carried out a sweep of the premises.

ā€œNothing suspicious was found at both locations. After thorough inspection, both threats were declared a hoax,ā€ a senior officer said, adding that further investigation is under way.
