Two students die as speeding two-wheeler rams tree near Coimbatore

Two students of a private college died when the two-wheeler they were travelling on rammed a tree on the side of Coimbatore – Palakkad Road at Madukkarai in Coimbatore district on Thursday noon.

The deceased have been identified as Sylesh Vishwanathan, 20, of Sengottai in Tenkasi district and Surya Narayanan, 20, of Kurichi housing unit in Coimbatore. They had been doing third year of undergraduation in a private college at Kuniyamuthur.

The police said the accident took place at 12.10 p.m. near the military camp at Madukkarai. Vishwanathan, who had been residing at P.K. Pudur, rode the two-wheeler with Narayanan on the pillion in a rash and negligent manner. He lost control of the two-wheeler and it rammed a tree on the side of the road, killing both of them on the spot, the police said.
