The Cochin Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested two youngsters allegedly with 1.5 kg of suspected methamphetamine, often known by street names like meth, from a rented house in the Edathala police station limits, near Aluva, on Friday.
The arrested were identified as A.A. Asif and Nithin Viswam, both 27, from Karumalloor in Aluva. NCB sources said the accused had sourced the suspected meth from Delhi. Incidentally, Nithin had been arrested earlier by the Kerala Police in another drug case involving methamphetamine and was also a murder accused.
The accused had been under NCB surveillance for a while and officers had narrowly missed Nithin during a trip to Delhi allegedly to source drugs last month. The NCB is now tracking down the distributors who supplied the suspected drug for retail sale.
