Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday (November 22, 2025) issued instructions to all District Magistrates to take swift and stringent action against illegal immigrants including directions for the establishment of temporary detention centres in each district to house identified infiltrators.
Mr. Adityanath highlighted that national security remains the top priority and any illegal activity will not be tolerated.
“Emphasising that law and order, national security, and social harmony remain top priorities, the CM stated that any illegal activity will not be tolerated. District administrations have been directed to identify illegal immigrants residing in their areas and take action in accordance with the law,” reads an official statement issued by the government.
“The Chief Minister has also instructed the establishment of temporary detention centres in each district to house identified infiltrators,” the statement further reads.
Seven districts of Uttar Pradesh share an open border with Nepal, allowing free movement of citizens of both countries but checks on residents of other nationalities.
