The campaign boards of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kappad and Thilannur divisions respectively of the Kannur Corporation were allegedly vandalised late on Monday night, prompting both fronts to file police complaints.

In Kappad, CCTV visuals showed unidentified persons damaging the boards. The UDF alleged that CPI(M) workers were behind the act.

The campaign board of UDF candidate Parthan Chankat was among those allegedly destroyed.

In Thilannur, BJP Kannur North district president K.K. Vinod Kumar alleged that anti-social elements were trying to create tension by targeting campaign materials.

The campaign boards of the BJP’s T.C. Manoj, U.T Jayanthan, and Shameer Babu were also reportedly destroyed on Monday night. Mr. Vinod Kumar warned that unless the authorities took strict action, the situation could escalate and fuel tensions in the region.
