As the Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 is round the corner, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated the newly built hockey stadium at M.G.R. stadium here on Saturday.
The much awaited world cup tournaments in the city are to host players from 12 countries, along with those from India, who would be playing in the stadium at scheduled slots from November 28 to December 10.
Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar welcoming the Ireland hockey team players from the Madurai Airport on Friday said he was awaiting the India vs Switzerland match on December 2.
Further, speaking to journalists, he said entry was free for the public, but the tickets must be booked vis Ticket Genie website prior to the matches.
“LED screens installed around the stadium will facilitate more people to view the matches. Also, arrangements are being made to accommodate more than 2,500 spectators inside the stadium,” he added.
Additionally, LED screens would be placed in specific locations for public viewing.
He said that special police security had been arranged for the players from their hotels to the stadium.
