Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar launched a scathing attack on “communists and urban naxals” on Thursday, questioning their role in “inciting violence and misleading innocent people.”
Speaking at the BJP state office alongside senior leaders G. Manohar Reddy, S. Kumar, S. Prakash Reddy, and Shilpa Reddy, he accused these groups of hypocrisy and demanded that those holding positions in the government resign if they have any moral integrity.
“While the Modi government has transformed India into the world’s fourth-largest economy and lifted 25 crore people out of poverty, the urban naxals continue to provoke youth into taking up arms against the Constitution,” said Mr. Sanjay.
He condemned urban naxals for enjoying “luxuries in air-conditioned rooms” while innocent tribals suffer and die in forests due to misguided ideologies. “Even Naxalites in forests are surrendering after witnessing Mr. Modi’s development. Why can’t you see it?” Mr. Sanjay Kumar remarked, adding that branding BJP as “communal” for speaking about development is “unjust”.
The BJP believes in democracy and has come to power through ballots, not bullets, and is committed to making India the No. 1 nation globally by 2047. Welcoming the Governor’s approval for prosecution of former minister K.T. Rama Rao, Mr. Sanjay Kumar criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for previously alleging a BJP-BRS nexus. “Corruption will not be tolerated under Mr. Modi’s leadership,” he asserted.
In separate statements, party president N. Ramchander Rao, Mahabubnagar MP and vice president D. K. Aruna and MLA Palvai Harish strongly criticised State PCC chief Mahesh Goud for ignoring the pain of families who lost loved ones to Naxal violence.
Mr. Rao said Mr. Goud’s remarks on Maoists were “Irresponsible and misleading to the public.” He emphasised that the central government’s aim is to provide protection to the people from naxals and Maoists attacks and violence. “ Neither it was elimination nor revenge. It’s the constitutional responsibility of the government to give protection to people,” he said.
“When Naxals killed my father, Palvai Purushottam Rao, where was your sympathy?” Mr. Harish questioned. “During Congress rule, thousands of Naxals were killed in encounters. Does Mr. Mahesh Goud not know this history?” they asked, adding that former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar, who served as an SP and oversaw encounters of innocent citizens, speaking in favour of Naxals is shameful.
“Today, the PCC chief sees Naxals as patriots, but these are the same people who killed Congress leaders like Chittem Narsi Reddy, Ragya Naik, and former Speaker Sripada Rao,” they pointed out. The party demanded Mr. Goud apologise for Congress-era encounters and clarify whether he believes the killings of Congress leaders by Naxals were justified.
“Supporting those who hold guns and create chaos in the name of democracy is unacceptable,” the BJP leaders asserted.
