The Left-affiliated United Farmers’ Front staged a black-badge protest in Krishnagiri on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) demanding that the Union government fulfil the demands of the farmers’ federations raised during the Delhi protests, which were earlier agreed upon by the government.

The protesters urged the government to implement the M.S. Swaminathan Commission recommendations on Minimum Support Price, regulate Micro Finance Institutions’ exploitative lending practices and announce write-off on all farm loans without caveats.

The protesters also called for a stop to the privatisation of power, end the use of smart metres and called for free power for up to 300 units. They demanded 200 days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) with a wage high of ₹700 per day.

The farmers federations also called for four times the compensation for land acquisitions under the Acquisitions Act, pension of ₹10,000 for farmers and farm workers, reverse the removal of import tax on milk, revoke the Free Trade Agreement with the United States among others demands.
