On the occasion of 118th Thevar Jayanthi and 63rd guru puja festival, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan paid his respects to Muthuramalinga Thevar at his memorial in Pasumpon on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists, he said, “I still believe, even without any evidence, that the freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose did not die in the plane crash accident.”

Remarking that his belief was based on Thevar’s announcement denying the death of Bose in the particular accident, Mr. Radhakrishnan, said, “Since Thevar ‘ayya’ said that he did not die, I believe his words, because, throughout his life, he had never said a single lie.”

“He is a saint who followed the path of high spirituality,” he commented.

Stressing that every one of the people were born in a particular caste and they could not change the caste on their will, he said, “But we can all stand together and forget the difference to work for the upliftment of Tamil society as a whole.”

He appealed to the public to create an opportunity in the coming days to celebrate all national leaders irrespective of their identities.

“That tribute will be the most significant honour for those leaders” he added.

Contending he had always visited the memorial on the day of Thevar Jayanthi, he said even after becoming the Vice President, he intended to pay homage to the leader at his memorial.

BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran, senior BJP leader H. Raja, were among others accompanied him.
