Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accompanied by Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, unveiled the poster for the annual ‘Visakha Utsav’ tourism festival, scheduled to take place in the city from January 23 to 31 on Friday during the first review meeting on the development of the Visakha Economic Region, chaired by the Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan have shown special interest in the State’s tourism sector.
He announced that they have decided to transform Visakhapatnam into an international tourism hub and that the ‘Visakha Utsav’ would be celebrated in a grand manner. The Minister said that soon a committee of local representatives and officials would be formed to provide direction for the preparations and a meeting would be held for the same soon. He added that the Beach Festival would be organised as a major event to further promote the tourism sector.
The Minister added that tourism development is progressing in the State with the cooperation of the Central and State governments. He criticised the previous administration for neglecting ‘Visakha Utsav’ over the past five years and asserted that under the current coalition government, tourism festivals would be grandly organised and extensively promoted.
Ministers Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, K. Atchannaidu, P. Narayana, Kondapalli Srinivas, MP Bharat, TDP State president and MLA Palla Srinivas, and others were present.
