Visakhapatnam city has got its first Trupthi canteen at the RK Beach.

Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao along with MLAs Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Ch Vamsikrishna Srinivas inaugurated the canteen on Thursday.

Speaking at the inaugural, the Mayor said that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, ‘Trupthi Canteens’ are being set up across the State with the aim of economically empowering women under the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) programme. He shared that five canteens are being planned for the city.

“These canteens will be entirely managed by DWCRA women, enabling them to achieve financial stability,” he said, adding that nutritious and hygienic food will be served at affordable prices and appealed to the public to make good use of the facility.
