Commissioner of Police, Shankhabratha Bagchi announced on Thursday that as many as 77 persons from Visakhapatnam were arrested in connection to 58 property offences in October 2025. Property worth ₹37 lakh was recovered from the offenders.

Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall, Mr. Bagchi said in October 2025, as many as 83 cases of property offences were reported in Visakhapatnam under various categories of property offences. In this connection, special teams were formed. The teams used technical methods to investigate all angles and were able to detect 58 cases and arrested 77 offenders resulting in recovery of ₹37,03,480.

Apart from property, about 500 mobiles worth ₹75 lakh were also recovered. Together, the total property recovered is worth about ₹1.12 crore, the CP said.

He further stated that of the 57 detected cases include three robberies, one case of house burglary by day, 6 cases of house burglaries by night, 5 cases of snatching incidents, 20 cases of motorcycle thefts and 22 cases of ordinary thefts.

As per the officials, the recoveries included 838.331 grams of gold, ₹3,10,500 cash, two motorcycles, one car and others.

Mr. Bagchi said that as part of preventive measures, in the month of October, as many as 309 CCTV cameras were installed at various places in the city, while 218 crime awareness meetings were conducted by the crime wing officers. The police organised awareness programmes among the public about the types of crimes, criminals and importance of installation of CCTV cameras.

“Special patrolling is being organised in crime prone areas by the crime teams during the day and at night. Drone beats are being used in isolated areas to monitor criminals and illegal activities,” he said.
