A seven-km stretch of footpath in Thanisandra has emerged as one of the best-rated pedestrian routes under the Project Walkaluru, with citizens calling it the cleanest and most obstacle-free walkway surveyed so far.

The fifth walk under the initiative was held on Saturday, drawing over 100 participants, including residents, civic officials, and staff of the North Corporation.

Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar flagged off the walk and covered the entire route with citizens, inspecting footpath conditions along the way.

The walk covered the stretch from Indira Canteen to Bellahalli Cross, and further up to Hegde Nagar Junction. An obstruction audit was conducted for every kilometre. The team found zero garbage spots, open urination spots, two-wheeler parking blocks, construction debris, two vendor encroachments, and a car parking block. Across the entire stretch, fewer than seven obstructions were recorded, which officials described as a remarkable improvement.

The drive covered 17.3 km, and clearing 52 loads of waste. Officials also removed 19 black spots and 14 pedestrian encroachments identified along major roads.
