A 19-year-old nursing student sustained injuries after a man allegedly hurled a chemical at her in Kadipikonda village of Warangal on Monday (December 1, 2025) evening. The victim, identified as T. Sunanda, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Jaya College of Nursing in Hanumakonda. She had spent the afternoon at a friend’s house and was travelling home on a two-wheeler when the attack occurred.

Madikonda Inspector, P. Kishan, said the incident was reported around 6.20 p.m. “While she was passing through Kadipikonda village, the suspect threw a chemical at her and fled. She sustained injuries to her left ankle and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he said.

Police recovered an empty bottle from the scene and said the substance did not appear to be acid. “If it had been acid, the injuries would have been more severe. It seems to be another type of chemical. The bottle has been collected and sent for forensic analysis,” the officer added.

A case was registered and an investigation is underway. The student was unable to identify the assailant in her initial statement, and police are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the suspect.
