Water level nearing 104 feet in Bhavanisagar Dam

The water level in the Bhavanisagar Dam on Friday is nearing 104 feet against its full reservoir level (FRL) of 105 feet.

At 2 p.m., the inflow into the dam was 3,063 cusecs, while 2,300 cusecs was discharged into the Lower Bhavani Project canal and 250 cusecs into the Arakkankottai–Thadapalli canals. About 100 cusecs was released into the Bhavani River for drinking water purposes. The storage stood at 31.23 tmc ft against the total capacity of 32.80 tmc ft. Tourists visiting the Kodiveri anicut were disappointed as the water flow remained minimal.

Elsewhere in the district, the Gunderipallam Dam was at its full level of 41.75 feet with a storage of 108.21 million cubic feet (mc ft). The Perumpallam Dam was full at 30.84 feet with a storage at its maximum of 115.80 mc ft. The Varattupallam Dam recorded 28.38 feet against its FRL of 33.46 feet, with a storage of 96.51 mc ft against a capacity of 139.60 mc ft.
