Women Entrepreneurs (WE), a wing of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is to organise its 18th empowerment and entrepreneurship conference ‘Wecon 2025’ here on November 21.
During a press meet here on Tuesday, Rajakumari Jeevagan, Chairperson, WE, said, “The 18th year of the conference where women professionals and entrepreneurs in the district would converge to share their experiences and hurdles in their journey is one of the significant activities of the forum.”
The theme ‘Agni’ for the conference emphasised the importance of inward confidence and resilience over external motivations and supports, she added.
“Though the external support systems are key driving factors in every woman’s journey, developing inner stabilisation is more important to keep up the pace of their growth,” she noted.
The event, in addition to recognising successful women entrepreneurs, would also reflect on their experiences and the evolution of their businesses.
Ms. Jeevagan said conducting such events would be very helpful to fill the existing gap in the financial literacy among women. “Though women have achieved a remarkable literacy level, the limited opportunities in financial side has kept them in shadow,” she added.
N. Jegatheesan, president, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said women were making an indelible mark in every sector, starting from business, banking, engineering, medicine, IT, law to defence and sports.
“Though the opportunities for women are widening they do not get them that easily. Those getting the chances are utilising them to their best,” he added.
Madurai, by establishing the first women industrial park in Kappalur SIDCO, had been giving enormous support to their growth in the business and manufacturing sector, Mr. Jegatheesan said.
