Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) M. Maheshwar Rao on Wednesday directed officials to expedite the white-topping work on Dr. Rajkumar Road to ensure completion within the stipulated time.

Mr. Rao inspected the ongoing work on a 700-m stretch between Navrang Theatre and 10th Cross Junction under the West Corporation limits and issued necessary instructions to engineers and civic staff.

The corporation is also laying a 1,000 mm pipeline to improve the flow of rainwater in the area. Mr. Rao directed officials to finish the ongoing pipeline work within 15 days, after which the white-topping work must begin and be completed on schedule.

As part of the project, three cross-cultural culverts are to be constructed along the road. Work on one culvert has already begun. Traffic movement on the section where work is underway has been restricted, with vehicles diverted to the opposite lane. Mr. Rao directed officials to prevent congestion in the area and to implement all necessary safety measures during the course of the work.
