Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has expressed commitment to solving the problems being faced by farmers who gave their lands for the development of Amaravati capital city.
Stating that reports that they were being insulted by the CRDA officials were baseless and motivated by the opposition parties, Mr. Narayana said on Friday. The government duly took note of the issues related to the returnable plots and would sort them at the earliest, he said.
Speaking to the media persons during inspection of the e-Health and Anganwadi Centres and schools being developed under the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) Project at Venkatapalem and Uddandarayunipalem in Amaravati, Mr. Narayana said none of the assurances given to the farmers would be ignored and the CRDA was striving to solve their problems with all seriousness.
He asserted that the issues related to Grama Kantam, Jareebu and Lanka lands were being discussed in detailed, and necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issues thereof, which include certain directions issued by the National Green Tribunal.
The demands by some farmers that returnable plots should be given at places of their choice was not possible as it was against the CRDA rules and regulations.
Mr. Narayana further said infrastructure works in the LPS layouts were progressing rapidly and registration of 30 to 40 plots was being done every day. So far, registration of 61,433 plots had been completed for 29,421 farmers. Out of total 30,635 eligible farmers, plot allocation had been completed for 29,644, he said.
