PMK founder S. Ramadoss’s estranged son Anbumani on Thursday asserted he will continue to remain president of the party till August 2026.

Addressing a press conference at Marakkanam, he contended, the Delhi High Court, after hearing both sides on Thursday, had ruled that the Election Commission of India’s permission and recognition granted to him could not be cancelled and that if there was any issue with an unrecognised political party, it could be argued in a civil court.

Mr. Anbumani claimed that the court did not raise any objection to the EC’s recognition granted to him and the party symbol ‘Mango’ belonged to them.

Replying to a question about a split in the party, he said it would not cause any harm to the party and the PMK would secure more votes. “This is the handiwork of the DMK,” he claimed, adding “though they tried to create confusion within the party, they were defeated.”

Referring to the prohibitory orders imposed in the temple town of Tirupparankundram, Mr. Anbumani said nothing should come into spirituality and politics and controversy should not be triggered by any side. The court’s verdict must be followed.

Replying to a question, he said that a strong and mega alliance would soon be formed in Tamil Nadu and the PMK would be a part of it. He further stated that people were seething with anger at the ruling DMK and it would reflect in the 2026 Assembly elections.
