Police arrested a woman for allegedly selling ganja chocolates and seized around 2.2 kg of the contraband from a grocery shop in Ambattur on Tuesday.
Based on a tip-off received by the Sub-inspector of the Ambattur Estate Police Station about the sale of ganja at a grocery shop on Ambedkar Street in Athipattu Chinna Colony, a police team led by him conducted surveillance in the area on Wednesday. On searching the shop, the police found about 2.2 kg of ganja chocolates stored in a white plastic bag.
Police seized the chocolates and arrested the woman, identified as Geetha, 42, of Ambattur Estate. During interrogation, it was revealed that she had been procuring contraband from Andhra Pradesh and selling it in areas including Athipattu, Pattaravakkam, Mangalapuram, and ICF to local youths and people from northern states.
