The police on Wednesday launched an investigation into the brutal assault of a 39-year-old woman by her husband at their residence in Kumaranalloor.
According to officials, the incident took place a few days ago at the couple’s home, where the victim had reportedly endured years of domestic abuse. The woman, was found unconscious after the attack that took place on Saturday night. It was her elder daughter who alerted the police upon discovering her mother in a critical condition.
The woman had sustained deep wounds on her face and body, leaving her with impaired vision and hearing. She was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital, where she received treatment before being able to give her statement.
Based on her complaint, the Kottayam West Police registered a case against the accused, identified as Jayan Sreedharan, under Sections 381, 296, and 115 of the IPC.. The accused has gone into hiding and a search is currently under way to locate and arrest him.
