A woman who was abroad foiled a burglary attempt of her mother’s house at her native Maladi village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada by watching the CCTV camera footage at the house. The police said that she alerted a neighbour, Prakash Shetty, and the would-be burglar was caught. The accused has been identified as Kiran.
The police said that owner of the house Prema Shetty was abroad to visit her daughter. On Sunday morning, Ms. Shetty’s daughter was checking the CCTV camera footage at the Maladi house and found Kiran atop the house. She immediately called Mr. Shetty and informed him.
The police said that when Mr. Shetty went to the house, Kiran tried to escape. As Mr. Shetty tried to catch Kiran, the latter hit him with an iron rod. Mr. Shetty raised the alarm and the locals caught Kiran and handed him over to the Punjalkatte police.
The police said that Kiran is a native of Talapady village in Kerala. The Punjalkatte police registered a case against Kiran for offences under Sections 331(1), 62, 118(1), and 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
