Women security scheme launched – The Hindu

The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to launch a new scheme for security of women.

Women, including transwomen, from poor families who are not beneficiaries of social welfare schemes will be given monthly financial assistance under the scheme.

Women between the ages of 35 and 60 who do not get any social security pension and who hold Antyodaya Anna Yojana [yellow card] and Priority Households (PHH) [pink card] will be allowed ₹1,000 each as women security pension.

As many as 31.34 lakh women will be beneficiaries of this scheme. The government will incur an expenditure of Rs.3,800 crore a year for this scheme.
