Women workers injured as van overturns in Sivaganga

Eight women garment workers were injured after the van in which they were travelling overturned here on Saturday.

Since many women from the district worked in a private garment manufacturing unit at Arasanur, a van belonging to the company usually picked and dropped the women workers at their home, police said.

On Saturday morning, a van was on it way to drop the workers at Thirupuvanam area after work, when the driver swerved to avoid a two-wheeler and landed in a ditch. The vehicle overturned and eight women were injured. All were admitted to Sivaganga Government Hospital for treatment.

Poovanthi police have registered a case and further investigation is under way
