Worker engaged for watering plants killed in drunk driving accident on Kukatpally–Miyapur road

A private worker hired to water plants on the road median was killed after a speeding car rammed into him on the Kukatpally–Miyapur road, near pillar number 751, early on Saturday (November 29, 2025) morning.

The victim was identified as 44-year-old Santosh Kumar Ishwar, a private tanker driver said to be engaged on contract by the Metro Rail authorities for maintenance work. The accident was reported around 5 a.m.

According to KPHB Police Inspector, S. Rajashekar Reddy, the car driver, 29-year-old Sai Kiran, was in an inebriated condition at the time of the crash, with a Blood Alcohol Level (BAC) of 114.

“Santosh was preparing the pipe to water the plants when the accused drove his car in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into him from behind. The impact was severe and he died on the spot,” the officer said.

After receiving an emergency call, police reached the location and shifted the body for postmortem examination. Sai Kiran was taken into custody, and a case has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.
