A one-day workshop on industrial LPG and CNG safety was held in Hyderabad on Tuesday, bringing together about 130 delegates from factories across Telangana. The programme, organised by the National Safety Council’s Telangana chapter in collaboration with the Department of Factories, took place at the Surana Auditorium in the FTCCI complex, Red Hills.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Secretary for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories M. Dana Kishore underlined the need for continuous skill development in industrial units and said that even modest investments in safety could prevent loss of life. He cautioned against any complacency in enforcing safety protocols and highlighted the importance of safe LPG handling in both domestic and industrial settings.

Director of Factories Y. Mohan Babu said the department had organised a Training of Trainers programme for safety professionals in September, following directions from the Minister for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories, Mines and Geology. The trained personnel had since imparted safety training to nearly 35,000 employees working in hazardous units over the past two months. He noted that the department now plans to hold district-level safety training programmes for factory workers in the coming months.
