The Youth Hostels’ Association of India (YHAI), Andhra Pradesh branch, Visakhapatnam, launched the ‘Heritage and Harmony’ — a cultural and heritage exploration trip from Andhra Pradesh to Odisha, on Sunday.
The event was flagged off by YHAI chief patron and national council member Sreenivasa Prasad, who addressed the participants and highlighted the objectives and significance of the initiative. Participants from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and A.P. joined the five-day and four-night programme, which aims to promote unity, adventure, and cultural appreciation among youth from different States.
The event was graced by programme coordinator B. Umamaheswar Rao, and others who commended the participants and organisers for their dedication to fostering national integration and cultural understanding. The Heritage and Harmony programme embodies YHAI’s mission of encouraging youth to experience India’s diverse heritage while promoting friendship, adventure, and environmental awareness.
The trip itinerary includes visit to local heritage sites in Visakhapatnam on the first day, followed by journey to Srikakulam district covering Srimukhalingam temple and Telineelapuram Bird Sanctuary, followed by travel to Chilika Lake for an overnight stay. The next day, there will be an early morning boat cruise to Kalimata temple, located on an island in Chilika, visit to the sacred Puri Jagannath temple, exploration of the famous Konark Sun temple and Raghurajpur artisan village, before returning to Visakhapatnam.
