A 28-year-old man who had been undergoing treatment after allegedly being struck on the head with a metal rod by his father succumbed to his injuries on Monday (November 24, 2025).
Hrithik, a resident of Vanchiyoor, died more than a month after the incident, which occurred during a heated altercation with his father, Vinayanand, at their home on October 9.
According to the police, the dispute began when Hrithik expressed dissatisfaction with a high-end motorcycle worth around ₹17 lakh that he had received earlier and demanded a luxury car instead. As the argument escalated, Hrithik allegedly assaulted his father. Vinayanand retaliated by attacking his son with a metal rod.
Hrithik was rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital with severe head injuries. Vinayanand was arrested by Vanchiyoor police two days after the incident.
Following Hrithik’s death, the police have stated that the charges against the accused will be upgraded to murder.
