The Maduravoyal police have arrested a 26-year-old youth for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old woman who turned down his proposal of love.

Police said the woman from the Koyambedu police district, who was pursuing her final year of engineering at a private college, had also been working part-time in the film industry due to family circumstances.

During her work there, she became acquainted with a sub-agent named Rishivikraman, 26. The two grew close and were in a relationship for about four months. However, the woman later stopped speaking to him after noticing inappropriate behaviour on his part.

On the night of October 25, while she was walking on Maduravoyal Service Road, Rishivikraman approached her and insisted that she continue the relationship. When she refused, Rishivikraman verbally abused her, slapped her, took a brick from the roadside, and threatened to kill her before leaving the spot.

Even afterwards, Rishivikraman continued calling her repeatedly over the phone, but when she did not answer his calls, he allegedly threatened her over the phone on Tuesday saying that if she did not agree to be in a relationship with him, he would kill her and her family members.

Based on the woman’s complaint, the Maduravoyal Police registered a case and arrested Rishivikraman, a resident of Royapuram. The mobile phone used in connection with the crime was also seized from him.
