The All Women Police, Thirumangalam, has arrested a 23-year-old man on charges of raping a young woman.
He allegedly became acquainted with the woman through a mobile application. He forced the woman to have a relationship with him by claiming that he would help her with preparing for UPSC examination.
According to police, the 22-year-old woman from Vellore district has been staying in Chennai for the past four months and is preparing for government service examination.
While searching for a rental house through a mobile application, she came in contact with a man who introduced himself as Harishkumar, whose original name is Yogeshkumar. He claimed that he was also preparing for UPSC examination for the past three years, and had reached the interview stage, and would help her prepare for the exam.
Subsequently, he asked the woman to send her photograph and threatened to inform her parents if she failed to do so. The woman sent her photograph. A few days later, he allegedly forced her to go out with him. On Wednesday, he took her to a lodge, and allegedly forced her into a physical relationship.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim at All Women Police Station, the police registered a case and arrested Yogeshkumar.
