The Abhiramapuram police on Tuesday arrested Pandiayraja, 24, from Tirunelveli, for robbing a man at an ATM centre. Police said Syed Mohammed, 31, a resident of Triplicane, had gone to deposit ₹10 lakh at the ATM centre on Sringeri Mutt Road on Monday evening.
As he was inside the ATM, two individuals, wearing helmets, threatened him with a knife, snatched his bag, and fled. Based on Mohammed’s complaint, the police arrested Pandiayraja, who has two criminal cases pending against him, and are searching for his accomplice. A bag containing ₹8 lakh was recovered, and a two-wheeler has been seized.
