Youth injured in bear attack near Srisailam

A youth from Hatakeshwaram hamlet in the Nallamala forests near Srisailam of Nandyal district was critically injured in a bear attack on Saturday. The youth, identified as Chinnadevayya, ventured deep into the forest to collect firewood when the bear attacked.

The bear had inflicted deep gashes on his back and limbs before he managed to escape and rush to a nearby village. On seeing the villagers, the bear abandoned her pursuit and retreated into the forest. He was rushed to the government hospital at Sunnipenta. A team of forest officials inspected the spot where the youth was attacked, and cautioned the residents of forest fringe villages to avoid going deep into the forests.
