₹10,000 fine imposed for bid to dump waste from Kerala in Theni district

Forest Department officials in Cumbum have imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on a person from Kerala for trying to smuggle in industrial waste into Tamil Nadu for dumping, on Saturday night.

When the forest personnel were involved in vehicle check at the Cumbum Mettu forest check post, they intercepted a car with a Kerala registration number plate.

During checking, the team found that one M. Solairaja, 35, of Kattapana, who was running a rexine unit in Kerala had brought the waste for allegedly dumping it in forest area.

District Forest Officer, Arun Kumar, instructed the officials to register a case and impose the fine amount.
