The Kankanady police seized laterite stones worth ₹12,000 while they were being transported illegally in a lorry near Arukula Checkpost in the city on Monday.
The police said Nagaraj, 37, the owner and driver of the lorry from Adyar Padavu in Bantwal taluk, did not have any permission to transport the stones. Nagaraj was booked under provisions of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, the police said.
