10-day Margazhi festival at Sthanumalayan Swamy Temple begins with flag-hoisting ritual

The ten-day Margazhi festival of Sthanumalayan Swamy temple in Suchindram began with a flag-hoisting ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremonial flag (kodi pattam) was taken in procession and handed over to the temple authorities on Wednesday. Following that rituals and pujas were conducted as per agamic traditions, under the leadership of Vattapalli mutt Sthanikar Sivaprasad on Thursday morning.

Following that, a flag hoisting ceremony was performed by Dileep Nambuthiri, Sthanikar of Therku Mann mutt.

Kanniyakumari MP Vijay Vasanth, Kanniyakumari MLA Thalavai Sundaram, temple authorities and officials from Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department were present.

The major events of the 10-day fest ‘Makkalmaar Sandhippu’ is scheduled to be held on December 27, ‘Panchamurthi’ darshan on December 29, car festival on January 2 and ‘Sapthavarnam’ and ‘Arudhra’ darshan on January 3.
