The Lok Adalat organised to settle disputes between the Transport Department and vehicle owners concluded in Monday with a collection of ₹6.81 lakh in tax.
The Lok Adalat was organised after a direction came from Principal and Sessions Judge Marulasiddaradhya and Road Transport Officers and vehicle owners participated in it.
“As many as 20 cases were settled amicably and ₹6,81,259 in tax was collected from vehicle owners. Documents related to vehicles, like registration certificate, insurance, fitness certificate, emission test certificate and permit, were inspected,” an officer said.
Advising vehicle owners to adhere to the law, Mr. Marulasiddaradhya said that the documents should be kept ready when sought for and also ensure that the tax is paid to the government well within time.
