A 54-year-old bus driver, a 61-year-old lorry driver, and 20 students of a private college were injured after the two vehicles collided on Perum Kanchi Main Road near Sholinghur town in Ranipet on Tuesday (February 3, 2026).
The police said that the bus was on its way to the private college in Arcot after picking up students from Pallipattu (Tiruvallur district) and Sholinghur on the stretch. As the driver attempted to take a turn on the stretch, he noticed an incoming lorry from the opposite direction. He lost control of the vehicle and hit the lorry. The incident occurred around 8.30 a.m.
In the impact, both vehicles were badly damaged. Along with the bus driver and students, lorry driver G. Vijayakumar also sustained injuries. Immediately, residents and other motorists rescued the injured and shifted them to Government Taluk Hospital in Sholinghur town. A case was registered by Kondapalayam police. A probe is under way.
