A total of 47 nominations were filed across 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai district on the first day of filing on Monday, for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The polling is scheduled to be held on April 23.
According to a release, the highest number of nominations were received in Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar and Perambur constituencies with seven each, followed by Kolathur with five and Villivakkam and Saidapet with four each. Nominations were also filed in constituencies including Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar, Anna Nagar, Virugambakkam, T. Nagar, Mylapore, and Velachery.
No nominations were received in Harbour and Thousand Lights constituencies.
The nominations include candidates from recognised political parties, registered parties, and independents, the release added.
