Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Friday said his government has successfully completed 568 of 588 projects planned under a 100-day action plan launched on July 1 this year. The Chief Minister also announced the government’s second ‘mission’ christened ‘Janasparsham’ — a ‘File Adalat’ lasting from October 15 to December 31 to dispose of pending files. “During the 100 days, the government was able to settle many issues that had remained unresolved,” Mr. Satheesan said. Progress on the remaining 20 projects has exceeded 90%.
Commenting on the pending works, Mr. Satheesan said 39 of 42 projects have been completed in the Electronics and IT department, 29 out of 30 in the Public Works department, 19 out of 20 in the Local Self Government department, 21 out of 23 projects in the Water Resources department, 26 out of 32 projects in the Health and Family Welfare department, and 29 out of 34 in the Home department.
“Departments are not to be blamed for the delay. In the case of the Home department, for instance, there was delay in the arrival of equipment for the Fire and Rescue Service from Finland. All the procedures had been completed,” he said. “That we could complete 96.5% of the projects gives the government confidence to take up and complete more projects,” he said.
Originally the government had aimed for 602 projects, but some were removed after a review, the Chief Minister said. The government had opened a portal for real-time tracking of the projects.
New Mission
The Janasparsham File Adalat will give priority to long-pending files and those requiring urgent attention, the Chief Minister said. Pending files include 2.76 lakh e-files. The adalats are a step towards data-driven governance and bringing about a fundamental difference in the movement of files, he said.
