90,460 graduates registered to vote in Karnataka West Graduates’ Constituency

A total of 90,460 graduates have registered as voters in the Karnataka West Graduates’ Constituency as of the qualifying date of November 1, 2025, the Regional Commissioner of Belagavi Division and Election Officer for the election to the Karnataka West Graduates’ Constituency, K.M. Janaki, has said.

In a statement issued on Monday, Ms. Janaki said that only the graduates registered in the electoral roll of the constituency would be eligible to vote in the election. The electoral roll has been prepared afresh under the de novo system, and 137 polling stations have been established, including 128 regular and nine auxiliary polling stations.

The Election Commission of India announced the election schedule on September 22, following which the Model Code of Conduct came into force for political parties and candidates.

Nomination process

Candidates seeking to contest the election must be at least 30 years old, registered voters in any Assembly constituency in Karnataka, and not disqualified under any law.

Nomination forms, including Form 2E and the revised affidavit in Form 26, would be available at the Dharwad Deputy Commissioner’s office from September 29.

Completed nominations may be filed between September 29 and October 6, excluding public holidays, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer or the Deputy Commissioner, Dharwad.

As prescribed under Section 34 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, candidates belonging to the general category must deposit ₹10,000, while candidates from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes must deposit ₹5,000.

Ms. Janaki advised candidates to fill in all the columns of the affidavit with the required information, warning that incomplete affidavits could lead to rejection of nominations during scrutiny.

If the affidavit and Forms ‘AA’ and ‘BB’ are not submitted along with the nomination, they must be furnished by 3 p.m. on October 6, the last date for filing nominations, Ms. Janaki said in the statement.
