All India Congress Committee’s official spokesperson Dolly Sharma on Monday flayed the AINRC-BJP government over the strike by contract teachers in Puducherry.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Committee office, Ms. Sharma said around 292 contract teachers were on strike for the last several days. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has failed to listen to their grievances and bring the strike to an end, she said.
“Most of the striking teachers are women and the BJP often comes up with slogans championing the cause of women. However, that party is only good in making slogans and not in governance,” she said.
Referring to the fake drug manufacturing case, the AICC spokesperson said Mr. Rangasamy, despite handling the Health portfolio, has not taken responsibility for the manufacture of counterfeit drugs in the Union Territory. Speaker R. Selvam was seen photographed along with the kingpin involved in the drug case, she added.
“The BJP speaks one thing and does another. BJP legislator A. John Kumar who was involved in a temple land scam was made a Minister while projecting Hindutva,” she said.
Stating that the Central government was trying to destroy federalism, she added “Puducherry is being controlled by Delhi and the government here is run by the Lieutenant Governor.” Former Chief Minister V. Naraynasamy and PCC chief and MP V. Vaithilingam were present.
