Political leaders from Andhra Pradesh have hailed the recent India–U.S. trade agreement as a major step towards strengthening global economic stability and boosting India’s export competitiveness.
They said reduction in U.S. tariffs on Indian goods to 18% marked a significant breakthrough in bilateral trade relations between the world’s two largest democracies. They noted that the agreement was expected to enhance India’s position as a global economic powerhouse, while opening new opportunities for farmers, youth, MSMEs and export-oriented sectors.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the agreement as a historic milestone, stating that it would deepen India–U.S. economic ties and contribute to sustained global growth.
He said the deal would particularly benefit farmers and exporters in Andhra Pradesh by improving access to international markets.
In his message on X, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan congratulated the Prime Minister for concluding two major trade agreements in a short span, referring to the earlier agreement with the European Union and the latest pact with the United States.
He said the tariff reduction would help energise India’s economy and significantly improve export prospects for agricultural produce.
Taking to X, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said the reduction in tariffs from 25% to 18% would provide a strong boost to Indian exports and manufacturing. He highlighted that key sectors in Andhra Pradesh, including marine seafood, agri-exports, MSMEs, and emerging manufacturing hubs, stand to gain substantially from the agreement.
He also appreciated the efforts of the negotiating teams and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders, in a message on X, said the tariff reduction would facilitate large-scale bilateral trade between India and the U.S. across sectors such as energy, technology, agriculture and coal, potentially amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars in trade value.
The leaders said the agreement reflected decisive leadership at the national level and aligned with India’s long-term economic aspirations, while further strengthening strategic and economic cooperation between India and the United States.
