A 36-year-old man ended his life at his residence in Ambedkar Basti in Chikkadapallym Hyderabad, on Tuesday (February 3, 2026), allegedly due to financial distress and personal issues. Addressing allegations circulating about harassment linked to morphed nude photographs, Chikkadapally Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) L. Ramesh said the claims could not be confirmed at this stage. He added that the deceased’s mobile phone would be sent for forensic examination to verify whether any such blackmail or external pressure was involved.
The deceased was identified as Prem Kumar, who worked at a hospital mess and lived with his wife in Ambedkar Basti. He was found dead at his home, following which the Chikkadapally police were alerted and rushed to the spot. The body was later shifted to a government hospital for postmortem examination.
The police officials said preliminary inquiries pointed to prolonged financial difficulties faced by Kumar. In a complaint lodged with the police on Tuesday night, his wife stated that he had been under mental stress due to monetary problems. She also told investigators that Kumar received phone calls over the past few days, which he attended in secrecy. She found this unusual.
“The forensic analysis of the phone will help ascertain if there was any digital harassment or coercion,” the ACP said, adding that no conclusions should be drawn until the investigation is completed. Further investigation is underway.
