Tiruppur District Collector Manish S. Narnaware released the potential-linked credit plan (PLP) document at the bankers meeting here on Wednesday (February 11, 2026).

Releasing the document, the Collector advised the banks to allocate more targets towards medium and long-term credit in agriculture as there is a good potential to promote farm mechanisation, micro irrigation systems and animal husbandry. He also emphasised focusing on priority sectors including education, housing and renewable energy.

Shyampriya R, District Development Manager, NABARD, indicated that the PLP for the district has been prepared in consultation with officials at the Block, District and State-level Departments in government, banks and NGOs and added that the PLP projection is around 22% more than the ACP target for financial year 2025-26.

The share in the PLP estimates 2026-27 for Agriculture Sector is ₹21275.65 crore with farm credit estimated at ₹15386.08 crore. Keeping in view the recent policy initiatives of the Union and State governments to push the MSME sector, ₹32680.46 crore is estimated for the district.

S. Durga Prasad, Lead District Manager, Canara Bank informed that based on the potential estimated in the PLP for the coming year, a background paper will be circulated by the Lead bank, along with block-wise/activity-wise potential identified in the plan. Banks will prepare their branch-level credit plans so as to finalise the Block and District Credit Plans for 2026-27.
