The Velachery police on Sunday arrested three men in connection with the murder of their fellow migrant worker from Odisha following a dispute over the online transfer of wages.
The city police said the accused – Qasim and his accomplices Sheriful and Tabir, all from Bihar – were involved in the construction of a house in IOB Colony of Velachery. Ranjan used to transfer their wages to them via UPI.
On Saturday, he was found dead with fatal injuries. The Velachery police sent the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital.
During investigation, it was found that a dispute arose between Qasim and Ranjan after ₹45,000, which was intended to be sent to his mother via UPI, was transferred to a different bank account. Following an argument, Qasim stabbed Ranjan to death.
