CISF coastal cyclothon team receives grand welcome in Dhanushkodi

A spirited welcome was accorded to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) ‘Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon – 2026’ team upon its arrival in Dhanushkodi here on Tuesday.

Consisting of 130 personnel, including 33 women, the CISF team was divided into two groups for the “Vande Mataram” cyclothon. The initiative was aimed at strengthening coastal security awareness, national unity, and community participation.

The team was received in Rameswaram by the 4th Battalion of the CISF based in Amaravathi Pudur near Karaikudi, Sivaganga district.

Following their visit to Dhanushkodi, the team toured Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s house in Rameswaram, the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple, and the Dr. Abdul Kalam National Memorial in Peikarumbu. They later proceeded towards Ramanathapuram via the Pamban Road Bridge.

The rally, which commenced on January 28 in Kolkata, has traversed Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana before reaching Rameswaram. Covering 120 to 150 km a day, the participants intend to complete a journey of 6,500 km covering nine States in 25 days, concluding their mission in Kerala on February 28.
